Part of 195.62 WHQL-certified drivers, the new release adds a couple of fresh features, including GPU-acceleration for Adobe's Flash 10.1 beta, which the chip maker introduced back in November, for its GeForce cards. The company adds support for DirectCompute with Windows 7, OpenGL 3.2, OpenCL 1.0 and support for the CUDA Toolkit 3.0, according to the release notes, available on its website.

However, before you download the drivers available through the links below, be sure to check with your laptop's OEM, which should provide you with the specific notebook drivers that are compatible for your system. NVIDIA warns its users that, before downloading the new driver, they should refer to the Products Supported tab, on this page, for a full list of supported products. In addition, the company states that users of the Dell Inspiron 1420, XPS M1330, XPS 1530 and Latitude D630/D630c should initially install the Dell software update on the manufacturer's website.

Given the 945GSE Express chipset, the Eee Box is actually closer to the Eee PC than to the Intel D945GCLF m-ITX board.

Up to now, everything sounds just dandy, but there is a downside to the environment. First off is the lack of information about the currently installed driver version and the alternative presented. All the details provided consist in the fact that a hardware piece on the system is in need of driver update. Device Doctor does not show the latest downloadable version, and this may instill distrust in the provided file.

A beautiful fix for the matter would be to present the user complete information on the version number detected on the machine, the number of the newer version and the operating system of both the PC and latest driver. The simplicity of the application does not allow for automatic installation of the drivers, so the manual approach is the only solution in this sense. However, Device Doctor does not impose any limitations on driver download and can be used absolutely free of charge. DriverMax, a far more elaborate solution for updating drivers, will permit a limited number of daily downloads for free.

Overall, Device Doctor is a simple solution to scan for the latest drivers for your hardware components and download them. It lacks the features of the more complex applications bent on the same purpose, but the fact that its services are absolutely free of charge (and judging by the ads on the driver download page, I think it is safe to assume that it will continue to be freeware) may be a great advantage over similar software from other developers. User feedback on the scan results and driver retrieval will keep on improving accuracy of the program on the increasingly popular Windows 7.

SCREEN

The screen is simply beautiful when viewing from straight ahead. Horizontal viewing angles are good, but you will start to notice some color shift at extreme wide angles. There is also some color inversion when you view the screen from sharp vertical angles (bright colors when viewed from above the notebook or dark, inverted colors when looking up at the screen from the floor) but most people rarely view a screen from these extreme vertical angles.

Download Driver Geforce 9400 GT

The Geforce 9400 GT is supposed to replace the 8500 GT respectively 8400 GS. According to its position in the lower performance region the card is likely to cost less than €50 (about $73). But you will have to accept some restrictions.
The theoretical performance reveals that the card won't be able to compete with the 9500 GT. The memory interface stays at 128 bit indeed, but in contrast to the more expensive model, only DDR2 memory with 400 MHz is used. Because of that the memory bandwidth is reduced from 25.6 to 12.8 GiByte per second. The numbers of Shader ALUs and texture units (TMUs) have been halved - their clock speed stays at 550 MHz. All this suggests that the Geforce 9500 GT will be twice as fast as the new Geforce 9400 GT.

As usual we use the High Quality settings of the Nvidia driver for all the Geforce cards. For AMD's Radeon models we stick to the Default A.I., since otherwise bugfixes and custom-designed optimizations would be ineffective.
